The inception of Google compare (Google's comparison site for insurance, credit cards, mortgages and travel) put a lot of fear into small business owners, especially insurance agents. There was a lot of speculative talk on how it would change the industry and how it would further cripple the small local agent.
In late February, Google announced it would shut down its comparison website. This was a shock to many but there was much validation in why Google would abandon this venture.
